First Mystery of LightThe Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased" (Mk 1:9-11). Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, Glory be Holy Virgin Mary, your were a perfect disciple of your Son, Jesus. Teach us to listen to the voice of the Spirit who speaks in the depths of our hearts. May He remind us all that Jesus taught us by word and deed. Now and forever. Amen. |
Second Mystery of LightJesus' Manifestation at the Wedding of Cana When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you" (Jn 2:3-5). Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, Glory be Mary, Our Mother, help us to open our eyes, our hearts and our hands to the needy around us. Remind us of the words of St. Basil: The bread you store up belongs to the hungry, the clothes that lie in your chest belong to the poor and the money you have accumulated belongs to the needy. Now and forever. Amen. |
Third Mystery of LightProclamation of the Kingdom Jesus came from Galilee proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news" (Mk 1:14-15). Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, Glory be Mother of our Redeemer, you were a docile instrument in the hands of God in the work of salvation. Pray for vocations to the priesthood and religous state, so that the message of salvation proclaimed by your Son may resound everywhere. Now and forever. Amen. |
Forth Mystery of LightThe Transfiguration of Jesus Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And He was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white (Mt 17:1-2). Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, Glory be Glorious Virgin, you believed in the divinity of Christ even when it was least visible. May we who are created to be sharers in the unending glory of heaven lead a life worthy of our calling. Now and forever. Amen. |
Fifth Mystery of LightThe Institution of the Eucharist Then He took a loaf of bread, and when He had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." And He did the same with the cup after supper, saying, "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood" (Lk 22:19-20). Our Father, 10 Hail Mary, Glory be Mary Mother of the Eternal Word, your Son continues to nourish us with his Body and Blood. Help us, in our turn, to be Eucharist for others, ready to be broken and shared for the life of the world. Now and forever. Amen. |
